Mike Stanton went 3 for 5 in his big league debut Tuesday. Stanton and the Marlins took on the
Phillies in Philadelphia and the much hyped prospect had a good showing. Stanton started off with a single in the 2
nd that came on a weak hit ball to the shortstop who was slow reaching the ball. Stanton beat the throw showing better than average speed in his first at bat. Stanton had 2 more singles in the game and his last one came in the 9
th inning and loaded the bases for the Marlins.
Stanton had 2 impressive plays in the outfield where he held 2 runners from turning solid base hits into doubles. He showed an impressive arm on his throws to second base, on the money, with good velocity and no hop. We will find out quickly what he will look like in the show as he is a physical specimen of athleticism and is certain to show his true worth very soon.
Unfortunately the Marlins failed to rally in the 9th and they lost their 4th game of the season.
